January 2, 2009 - January 13, 2009

Are you looking for something more than a vacation this year? Do you want to work with a team to make a difference in the lives of children with autism living in Ghana?

If the answer is yes, then please join us to experience the culture and beauty of Ghana and work on an international service project with the Global Autism Project this year!

About Our Project

We are currently accepting applications for volunteers willing to join us in Ghana and work alongside the Staff at Autism Awareness, Care & Training (AACT) to completely refurbish the centre by building new furniture (including EOTO work Stations), as well as repainting and doing general repairs at the centre.

About Ghana

Ghana lies on the Coast of West Africa, between the Ivory Coast and Togo. Its population of 19.4 million consists of over 50 different ethnic groups speaking various languages and dialects. Despite its great cultural diversity, Ghana has avoided any major ethnic conflicts throughout its 50-year history as an independent nation. Well endowed with natural resources, Ghana's per capita output is twice that of poorer western African nations. Even so, its economy remains heavily dependent on international financial assistance and continues to revolve around subsistence agriculture, which accounts for 50 percent of the gross domestic product and employs 60 percent of the work force.
