World travel is always a game changer for me. There’s just something about packing up and heading out to another place far away from the familiar of the everyday. It always sends me to an interesting space inside of myself filled with curiosity, excitement, emotion and reflection.

I have to get out of my head and my comfort zone to take “risks” I’ve never taken before. Whether it’s trying a new food, riding in a tax or speaking a different language, it takes a concerted effort to to step out. In this space, I’ve learned to be bold, take risks and trust in my training and ability. I am learning to be more comfortable in this space, but every time I travel, it still takes me by surprise.

As a BCBA candidate, I am in the process of fulfilling all the requirements to sit for the BCBA exam. One part of this training focuses on the supervision of others…not something I have been completely comfortable with.

At times, I have caved to that nagging voice in my head questioning my own proficiency and wondering if I will ever gain confidence in this area. Today, having had the opportunity to witness the eloquence of one of my newly found friends, a lightbulb turned on in my head and I realized I can do this. The nagging voice was silenced and once again I am ready to conquer the world.
