By Danielle Ortiz, a member of the SkillCorps Dominican Republic Oct. 2016 team. She also traveled to Kenya on a SkillCorps trip in Jan. 2016.

As I sit in the apartment and reflect on my trip to the Dominican Republic, memories of laughs shared come to my mind. This trip has once again opened my heart a little wider, its showed me another amazing group of people whose passion is for these amazing kids we work with. Each trip has some ups and downs however immersing yourself into another culture changes you. It deepens your choice that this field we work in, ABA, is the field that we have been called to. Walking into the center every morning and having that moment where you know today will be an exciting day, full of learning, growth and laughs…. You can’t bottle that emotion up, it’s a feeling that being on a SkillCorps trip brings. I can’t thank the Global Autism Project enough for allowing me the opportunity to be a part of these extraordinary trips!
