By Megan Lull, a member of the SkillCorps Kenya February 2018 team

As we enter the second week of our time at Kaizora here in Kenya, I find that there are some days where I am still in as much awe as I was from the moment we step foot into the center on our first day last week. The staff and the students at the center are incredible individuals, and I find that there is so much passion in all that they do. Each day that we spend at the center, I am learning and growing not only as a clinician, but also as an individual.

When we first arrived at the center last week, I was not sure what to expect. I was intimidated by the thought of submerging myself into an entirely different culture and felt apprehensive about what kind of impact I would have. At times, it can still be intimidating, but through allowing myself to be vulnerable I am becoming increasingly more comfortable. There has been so much that I have learned through collaborating with my SkillCorps team members alongside with the team at Kaizora. It has been a very compelling experience to recognize that despite the vast differences between our cultures, the values and goals we hold are the same when we are working in the field. Each day brings a new adventure and a new challenge to face. I feel both happy and sad that my time at Kaizora is coming to an end, but I am excited to see what more is in store for the rest of this week!
