An exciting announcement from the Global Autism Project– We are absolutely thrilled to formally announce our 5th current partnership with Aprendo in the Dominican Republic! We spent the last week on the ground in the DR getting things all set up for an amazing and promising partnership. Stephania Patin (pictured bottom row center) approached us nearly a year ago to inquire about helping to set up their center in the DR. We’ve all been working hard behind the scenes, and Stephania and Karla DeWindt are so excited to announce their own business partnership and the formal opening of their center, Aprendo. (it’s been “open” for a while, but they’ve now officially announced it to the public and are accepting new clients.)
We had the true pleasure of sending two of our clinical staff, Kaitlin Maguire and Emily Boshkoff-Johnson, down last week to visit Aprendo and start getting our hands dirty! I’m happy to report that we got a TON of work done, including helping the center set up their budget and schedule, training Stephania on using the ABLLS and the VB-MAPP for assessments, and setting up a formal intake process. We also scoped out some cool places to stay, eat, and visit for future SkillCorps trips! Within hours of announcing our new partnership on facebook, we had over a dozen inquiries about SkillCorps Dominican Republic!
This is incredible– we are so excited to see this amazing center grow and progress, and Karla and Stephania are already stoked about the first SkillCorps trip. We can’t wait to bring our SkillCorps family and our Aprendo family together for the first time– stay tuned for more details about applying for SkillCorps Dominican Republic!
